— 01 Service

Interior painting, done the careful way.

Walls, ceilings, woodwork, panelling, cabinetry. Prepped properly, painted by hand, finished to the standard that ages well rather than flakes early.

  • Built-in cabinetry & joinery
  • Wood panelling & tongue-and-groove
  • Radiators & pipework
  • Period plaster & decorative cornicing
— 03 Period homes

At home in Victorian and Edwardian houses.

A lot of our work is in the period stock of North London. Sash windows, ornate cornicing, lath-and-plaster walls that move with the weather.

We've spent enough time in Hampstead, Highgate, Islington, Crouch End and Muswell Hill to know that period work has its own pace. Cornicing wants gentle filling, not flat sanding. A stuck sash wants easing before it wants paint. Lath-and-plaster walls want thin coats and patience, the way they were built. We pick the paint specification to match the substrate, not the other way round.

  • Ornate cornicing
  • Original sash windows
  • Picture rails & dado
  • Lath-and-plaster walls
  • Panelled doors & shutters
  • Cast iron radiators
— 04 How it differs from a quick job

Four things we won't skip.

A faster decorator will say "we can do it in three days." We could too, if we were happy with a finish that aged in eighteen months. We're not.

— 01

We prep first

Holes filled, cracks raked out, surfaces sanded smooth, primed where they need to be. The visible finish is decided here, before the topcoat ever goes on.

— 02

We cut by hand

Edges around ceilings, skirting and trim are cut in with a brush, not a tool. Slower. Cleaner. Holds its line over time the way taped edges don't.

— 03

We let things dry

Multiple thin coats, with proper drying time between each. Rushing this is the easiest way to ruin a finish, especially on woodwork and cabinetry.

— 04

We work clean

Dust sheets every day. Tidy floors at 5pm. We don't leave you living on a building site, and we don't leave the rest of the house dustier than we found it.

We are not tied to one paint brand. We recommend the right finish for the room, surface, light and budget, then source it for you.
